According to the newly released global robot and UAV spending strategy, the total spending on robot system and UAV in 2020 will exceed 100 billion US dollars, an increase of about 17% over the same period in 2019. By 2023, the cost of this category will reach more than $200 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 20%.
It is estimated that most of the total cost (60%) is used to purchase hardware, including robot system, robot maintenance parts and system hardware. Although hardware accounts for a large part of the cost, the service cost may be the fastest growing part. Compared with software and hardware, the composite annual growth rate is 21.3%.
According to the region, China will become the region with the largest cost of UAV and robot system, and the total cost is estimated to reach 50 billion US dollars in 2020. The Asia Pacific region ranked second, spending $30 billion, followed by the United States and Western Europe.
When it comes to UAVs, by 2020, customer spending is estimated to reach US $6.5 billion, accounting for 40% of the total global forecast. Industrial drone spending will be dominated by utilities ($1.9 billion), construction ($1.4 billion), and discrete manufacturing and resource occupations ($1.2 billion). By region, the U.S. will be the most expensive region for UAVs in 2020, approaching 5.7 billion US dollars
